Introducing the New Peace and Joy Quilts: Inspiration Behind the Patterns
I am thrilled to introduce my latest Baby Yams patterns: the Peace and Joy baby quilts! Each quilt tells a unique story, one that reflects the love we pour into every stitch. With the Peace and Joy baby quilts, I sought to encapsulate feelings of comfort, expectancy, and connection—elements that should envelop every child. Let me take you through the inspiration behind these beautiful patterns.
The Inspiration Behind the Peace Baby Quilt
The Peace baby quilt is a reflection of my journey as a meditator. A peaceful mind is truly a quiet mind, so I wanted this pattern to be void of any clutter whatsoever. The boxed quilt pattern creates a sense of order and tranquility. Each box represents a moment of stillness, like gentle ripples in a pond. The Ankara border has a gorgeous almost gilded look in gold or silver; as precious as our tiniest family members.
The Inspiration Behind the Joy Baby Quilt
In contrast to the Peace baby quilt, the Joy baby quilt is a vibrant snapshot of a prism, bursting with lively colors and playful patterns that reflect the happiness and laughter we cherish in our homes. The unique combinations of colors showcase the beauty of diversity, capturing the essence of joy in every stitch. I named the first two colorways of the quilt "Le Petite Prince," which means "The Little Prince" in French, and "La Muñeca," which translates to "The Doll" in Spanish. These names are meant to reflect precise locations of the African diaspora like Haiti, Martinique and Central and South America all tied together- a rich tapestry of shared experiences. Importantly, these names are not intended to assign gender preference to any of the colorways.
I pattern my blankets to be gender-neutral, ensuring that every child and family can embrace any color. My sons look so handsome in pinks and oranges, and I often wear blue myself, proving that color choice is entirely up to you!

I personally strive to capture the delicate balance between peace and joy in my family life.
